West Ham United have rejected Tottenham Hotspur’s opening offer for Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus, Softfootball has gathered.

Tottenham, now under the guidance of new head coach Thomas Frank, submitted a bid in the region of £50 million plus £5 million in add-ons for the 24-year-old attacker. However, the Hammers turned down the proposal, insisting it falls short of their valuation as reported by Football Insider.

Kudus, who joined West Ham from Ajax in 2023, has an £80 million release clause in his contract. While the London club may be open to accepting offers below that figure, Spurs’ current offer is not expected to move the needle.

The Ghana international hasn’t been a standout performer since he arrived in England. He has only recorded 13 goals in 63 games, four fewer than the same number of games played for Ajax before his breakthrough to England.

However, West Ham are reluctantly prepared to listen to offers amid growing interest in the player. Newcastle United and Chelsea are among the clubs closely monitoring the situation, meaning Spurs could face serious competition if they hope to land Kudus.

Tottenham are expected to return with an improved offer as Thomas Frank continues to shape his squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign if he seems to be a priority.

But as Softfootball reported earlier, Kudus isn’t the only player on Spurs’ list, as Tottenham are making plans to move Ramsey from Villa Park.

Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a move for Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey after initiating contact with the player’s representatives over a potential summer switch so as not to be put in a tight corner in case Kudus’ deal falls short.
