West Ham United have officially appointed Graham Potter as their new head coach, handing him the task of steering the club away from relegation danger.
Potter joins on a two-and-a-half-year contract and will take charge for the first time when West Ham travel to face Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round on FridaY.
Softfootball understands the appointment follows Julen Lopetegui’s dismissal on Wednesday, after just six Premier League wins from 20 matches left the club in 14th place.

A highly-respected and sought-after coach, Potter has been awaiting the right opportunity after leaving his last role at Chelsea in April 2023, and was the Board’s unanimous choice to take the Club forward.
Potter’s progressive tactical approach previously impressed at Ostersund, Swansea City, and Brighton, before a difficult spell at Chelsea saw him sacked after just seven months in charge. He now returns to Premier League management nearly two years later, tasked with reviving a struggling West Ham side and giving them a platform to climb clear of the relegation zone.
