Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has called on his teammates to become more ruthless in front of goal after their 1-1 Premier League draw with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

Softfootball understands that the French centre-back believes the Blues produced an impressive performance in the London derby but failed to make the most of the chances they created.

Fofana praised the team’s overall display, insisting Chelsea showed they can compete with the Premier League’s top sides and are continuing to improve under head coach Enzo Maresca.

The 23-year-old acknowledged that adapting to the Italian’s methods took time, but believes the squad is now embracing the new tactical approach and producing better performances with each passing game.

Despite taking positives from the display against Arsenal, Fofana admitted the players were disappointed not to secure all three points, especially in front of their home supporters.

He stressed that Chelsea must continue progressing together while becoming more efficient in the final third, insisting the biggest area for improvement is converting chances into goals.

Fofana remains confident the Blues are heading in the right direction and believes adding greater clinical finishing to their performances will help them turn strong displays into consistent victories.
