Interest in Viktor Gyokeres continues to intensify following a remarkable season in Portugal, where the Swedish striker scored 53 goals and provided 12 assists in just 51 appearances, helping Sporting CP secure the league title.

Sporting initially appeared willing to accept less than the €100 million release clause in Gyokeres’ contract. However, internal tension and increasing pressure from rival clubs may now push the asking price higher.

The situation became more complex after Sporting president Frederico Varandas voiced his frustration with Gyokeres’ agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, over leaked reports suggesting a €60 million fee plus €10 million in add-ons had already been agreed. Varandas strongly denied any such deal and warned that the agent was worsening the negotiation climate.

Adding to the difficulty, a clause in Gyokeres’ original £20 million move from Coventry City two years ago entitles Cetinkaya to 10 percent of any rejected bid exceeding €60 million. This puts further strain on Sporting’s ability to navigate the transfer cleanly.

While Arsenal are in advanced talks, the path is far from clear. Atletico Madrid have entered the race, joining Chelsea and Manchester United in monitoring Gyokeres, who has now become one of the most in-demand forwards in Europe.

As the summer window approaches, a fierce bidding war looks inevitable—with Gyokeres’ value and market drama growing by the day.
