Valencia CF coach Carlos Corberán has praised his side after they fought back against Sevilla FC to earn a point in LaLiga Match-day15, Softfootball reports.
The match which was played inside the prestigious Mestalla stadium witness Valencia and Sevilla battle to a 1-1 draw in the thrilling encounter that left the fans enjoying more than what they paid for.
Speaking after the dramatic encounter in an interview shared via Valencia’s official X handle, Corberán gave his assessment of the match. He said:
My assessment of the match is that it was very physical and tight. We struggled to impose ourselves and create chances. It’s true that Sevilla didn’t create many opportunities either. We lost our shape at the start of the second half, and they managed to overcome our pressure a couple of times and take the lead. Despite how sluggish the game was, the team didn’t give up and fought until the end. In stoppage time, we got the goal which, although insufficient, is a small reward for the effort the team put in to go for the win.
Valencia went into the Mestalla with absolute confident of a win in this clash but it never went the way it was planned as they started the game poorly.
It gave encouragement to Sevilla as they attacked the home side and it paid off as César Tárrega put the ball at the back of his own net to give the visitors the lead at the start of the second half. However, Hugo Duro, who scored an outrageous goal when Valencia beat Levante in the derby a couple of weeks ago, scored a late equaliser to make it 1-1.
