United Look to Prove Renaissance Is Real Against Fulham

3 Min Read

Manchester United’s revival under Michael Carrick continues to gather momentum, and confidence around Old Trafford has rarely been higher. In the space of two Premier League weeks, United have beaten both Manchester City and Arsenal, doing so in style.

A 2–0 derby win over City was followed by a thrilling 3–2 victory at the Emirates, where goals from Bryan Mbeumo, Patrick Dorgu and a stunning Matheus Cunha strike handed Arsenal their first home defeat of the season.

Those results have pushed United firmly into the race for fourth place, with the Red Devils now one point clear of Chelsea and two ahead of Liverpool.

United are unbeaten in their last six league matches, the longest current run in the division, and their attack is delivering, scoring in 11 straight Premier League games.

However, Carrick now faces a different type of test. Fulham arrive at Old Trafford in good form, having lost just once in their last eight matches in all competitions. Marco Silva’s side sit seventh, only four points off the top four, and have taken 10 points from their last five away league games.

Earlier this season, Fulham held United to a 1–1 draw, and they won at Old Trafford as recently as February 2024.

Ahead of this fixture, SoftFootball reported on a fan reaction to Manchester United’s match post on their official x account, with one supporter commenting:

This match is the most important game for our renaissance. I know we just beat City and Arsenal, but these are the type of games that truly show if we’re back. We’re up against a low-block team, which we often struggle to break down because they prefer to sit back.

Team News

United will be without Patrick Dorgu, who is sidelined for around 10 weeks with a hamstring injury. Matthijs de Ligt remains a doubt, while Joshua Zirkzee is back in training.

Fulham could welcome Kenny Tete back, but Rodrigo Muniz and Sasa Lukic remain out.

Possible Lineups

Manchester United:
Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Mainoo, Casemiro; Diallo, Fernandes, Mbeumo; Cunha

Fulham:
Leno; Castagne, Andersen, Cuenca, Sessegnon; Berge, Iwobi; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Chukwueze; Jimenez

Prediction

Fulham will make this difficult with their compact setup, but United’s attacking confidence and home form should be enough to secure a third straight league win and keep their momentum going.
