UEFA to Observe Moment of Silence After Death of PAOK FC Fans

UEFA has confirmed that a moment of silence will be observed at tonight’s Europa League matches in Lyon and Athens in memory of PAOK FC supporters who tragically lost their lives.

Softfootball gathered that seven PAOK FC fans were killed in a bus crash while travelling to attend a scheduled Europa League fixture. The incident occurred yesterday as the supporters were en route to the match.

In a statement shared on UEFA’s official X account, the European football governing body said:

A moment of silence will be observed at tonight’s UEFA Europa League matches in Lyon and Athens in memory of the @PAOK_FC supporters who tragically lost their lives.

In addition, players at the match between LOSC Lille and SC Freiburg will join in a round of applause to honour the victims.

Despite the tragedy, UEFA confirmed that Europa League fixtures will continue as scheduled. Meanwhile, Chelsea have already secured qualification to the round of 16 after defeating Napoli 3–2 in their fixture yesterday.
