Tottenham have officially entered the race to sign Bryan Mbeumo and are stepping up their efforts following the appointment of Thomas Frank as head coach. The former Brentford boss is eager to reunite with the Cameroon forward, whom he originally brought to England from Troyes in 2019.
Sky Sports reports that Spurs have held early talks with Brentford as they try to secure a deal. Mbeumo has become a priority for Frank, who wants familiar and proven talent to shape his new era in north London. The 25-year-old is coming off his most productive Premier League season yet, scoring 20 goals.
Meanwhile, Manchester United had already submitted a £45 million bid for Mbeumo, which Brentford rejected. The Red Devils are expected to return with an improved offer closer to Brentford’s £60 million valuation. They also see Mbeumo as a key part of their attacking rebuild alongside Matheus Cunha.

Despite earlier leaning toward a move to Old Trafford, Mbeumo is reportedly more open to joining Tottenham since Frank’s arrival. Their previous work together in Brentford’s Championship and Premier League campaigns has played a big part in shaping his development.
However, salary could be a deciding factor in this battle. United are reportedly prepared to offer Mbeumo a £200,000-per-week package, while Tottenham may only be able to stretch to £130,000. That financial gap could prove pivotal unless Spurs can sway the forward with other incentives.

One such edge could be Champions League football. Tottenham’s qualification may be their biggest bargaining chip as they try to convince Mbeumo to choose them over United, who might not be able to offer the same European exposure next season.
Spurs also maintain an interest in Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, another target admired by United. As the transfer window unfolds, Tottenham and United are likely to lock horns again over the Premier League’s emerging attacking talents.
