Tottenham Hotspur agree to €60M fee for Chelsea target, Xavi Simons

Chelsea’s move for Xavi Simons has stalled, with the club needing to offload players before pushing ahead, and that delay has reportedly allowed Tottenham Hotspur to step in and hijack the transfer.

Softfootball reported earlier that Simons prioritized Chelsea move after agreeing to personal terms with the Blues. However, the clubs have yet to agree on a fee. He is also open to a move to Spurs, as RB Leipzig has set an asking price of at least €65 million.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his X account early Friday reported that RB Leipzig have accepted a €60 million offer for Xavi Simons. The green light came after Tottenham submitted a formal bid, with the player himself encouraging the move. Spurs are now pushing to finalise the deal on both club and player side before the day end. The post reads:

“EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham agree €60m fee with RB Leipzig for Xavi Simons!

Official bid accepted, green light after #THFC sent formal bid following player’s encouragement.

Spurs want deal done today also on player side + medical in the next hours.

Here we go, expected soon”

Tottenham are determined to secure a transfer for Simons after missing out on key targets like Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White. The North London club are also acting quickly to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea to the Dutchman’s signing.
