Tottenham Hotspur may be gearing up for one of the most ambitious transfer windows in their recent history, with plans to reunite manager Thomas Frank with Brentford forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa. Following Frank’s move to North London, two of his key players could now follow in a double deal valued at around £120 million.
Mbeumo and Wissa formed one of the Premier League’s most productive partnerships last season, combining for 39 goals — 20 from Mbeumo and 19 from Wissa. If they join a Tottenham squad already bolstered by Dominic Solanke and fed by playmakers like James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Brennan Johnson, Spurs would boast an attacking lineup strong enough to target a top-four finish.
However, the incoming firepower may signal the departure of Tottenham icon Son Heung-min. After finally winning silverware with Spurs, he may see this as the right moment to leave. Richarlison could also be offloaded, potentially rejoining Everton to free up funds, while Cristian Romero may exit after expressing discontent over Ange Postecoglou’s sacking.
Manchester United are also in the hunt for Mbeumo, but their failure to qualify for the Champions League could prove costly in negotiations. Despite the lure of higher wages, Mbeumo may prioritize European elite competition and his close relationship with Frank and Wissa over a move to Old Trafford.
United have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5m deal, yet continue to struggle in landing Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres — despite Ruben Amorim now at the helm. Alternatives being considered include Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo.
Brentford, meanwhile, are facing the reality of losing key talent to their former coach. Although reluctant to be seen as a feeder club for Spurs, the West London side runs a financially prudent operation. A £120 million offer could be too tempting to refuse as they plan for a Premier League rebuild.
In the betting markets, Tottenham are priced at 7/4 to land Mbeumo and 4/1 for Wissa, while Romero remains 4/6 to stay at Spurs but 2/1 to fulfill his La Liga ambitions with Atletico Madrid.
If these moves materialize, Spurs could not only strengthen their domestic prospects but emerge as legitimate threats in next season’s Champions League.
