Tottenham are now chasing Bayern Munich and Portugal midfielder, Joao Palhinha this summer. Softfootball understands that Spurs are the most serious of the clubs linked to the midfielder.

Palhinha was at Fulham before moving to Bayern  Munich in 2024. The Portuguese played 68 matches in the 2 years he spent at Craven Cottage scoring 7 goals.

He had originally signed a 5 years contract with Fulham which was supposed to last till 2027 but the Premier League side cashed in on him after bid of £47.4m was offered by Bayern Munich.

Since joining the German champions, Palhinha has had so many injury worries which has seen his playing time limited. He won the German Bundesliga in his first season even though he only made 17 appearances.

With his injury worries and competition from rom Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, Konrad Laimer and Aleksandar Pavlović, Kompany’s team are looking to cash in on him.

The versatile midfielder who started his career at Sporting Lisbon has been linked to Arsenal as well but it does look like the Gunners’ neighbors are the ones with the most interest.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted on his verified X handle on how serious Tottenham are about Palhinha.

He wrote:

“Tottenham have genuine interest in João Palhinha as initial approach has been made with his camp.

“More will follow in the next weeks as there’s no formal proposal to Bayern yet.”

Spurs new boss, Thomas Frank looks like he wants to build a combative midfield for next season with the likes of Malian midfielder, Yves Bissouma, Pape Matar Sarr, and Rodrigo Bentancur already in the team.

Palhinha will be bring his wealth of Premier League experience to Spurs if he eventually joins as he played 68 matches for Fulham scoring 7 goals. It is left to see how much value Bayern place on him as they are also looking to get Luis Diaz from Liverpool.
