Arsenal consider surprise bid for Chelsea striker, Nicolas Jackson

Arsenal have reportedly included Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson on their list of summer transfer targets, according to emerging reports from Softfootball.

Mikel Arteta’s side are eager to bring a new striker to the Emirates Stadium this summer, and the Senegal international is the latest star being monitored by the Gunners’ hierarchy.

Jackson has scored 30 goals in 80 appearances for Chelsea since his move from Villarreal in 2023, but he has been heavily linked with a Stamford Bridge departure following the arrival of Liam Delap and the club’s continued pursuit of Hugo Ekitike.

Arsenal have already begun talks for both Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko after they failed with a £60 million bid to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa in the January transfer window but the 29-year-old remains on their shortlist.

According to reports from ArsenalStation, Duncan Castles, who was speaking on The Transfers Podcast, Arsenal have Jackson on their summer shortlist, and Chelsea would be open to selling the striker having already signed Liam Delap for £30m from Ipswich Town this month.

But Arsenal are said to be holding out for a deal which represents the best value and are yet to make a final decision over which striker they will sign.

Arsenal are yet to complete their first signing of the summer transfer window, although they have agreed deals for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi and Brentford captain Christian Norgaard.

Liam Delap is already putting pressure on Jackson for the number nine spot in the side. He scored a fine first goal for the club in their last outing against ES Tunis.

Despite the difficult situation currently facing the 24-year-old, it looks as if he is solely focused on turning things around at Stamford Bridge.

Journalist Rahman Osman has claimed that the striker is not thinking about leaving Chelsea at this stage.

He said:

Maresca has less confidence in Jackson of late, with him clearly not learning his lesson from the red card against Newcastle.

Reports published by Softfootball earlier showed that Juventus make move for Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson after Flamengo red card. Juventus have now contacted Jackson’s camp and are weighing up a summer move.

Napoli are also monitoring his situation but appear more interested in Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez. With Chelsea eager to sign another striker, Jackson could be sacrificed to generate funds.

Chelsea have set a high price tag on Jackson, potentially scaring off interest from Serie A clubs who will be unable to afford him.
