Introducing her retirement announcement, Balogun expressed gratitude despite enduring several setbacks during her career. She wrote:
My body is saying it’s time to close this chapter and hang up the boots, but I thank God for every step of this journey.
I’m forever grateful to the beautiful game and all it’s given me.
The shot-stopper also reflected on overcoming knee cartilage replacement surgery, fulfilling her dream of playing professionally and representing Nigeria at international level.
Balogun was part of Nigeria’s squad at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and earned one senior appearance for the nine-time African champions.
