The Super Falcons defeated Tanzania 2:1 in their friendly on Thursday, 23rd July 2026. This comes after their friendly match against Ghana was called off.

Softfootball understands the Super Falcons of Nigeria secured a hard‑fought 2–1 victory over Tanzania’s Twiga Stars in a closed‑door pre‑WAFCON 2026 friendly at the Lenoria Sports Complex in Casablanca, Morocco.

Rasheedat Ajibade opened the scoring in the 15th minute, finishing brilliantly after being set up by Rinsola Babajide to give Nigeria an early lead.

Tanzania fought back and found an equaliser in the 85th minute through Opah Clement, drawing the Twiga Stars level and setting up a tense finish.

However, the Super Falcons responded almost immediately. Esther Okoronkwo came off the bench to score the winning goal in the 89th minute, converting a pass from Rasheedat Ajibade to seal victory for Justin Madugu’s side.

The friendly served as part of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, with the ten‑time African champions continuing to fine‑tune their squad ahead of the tournament.
