Strand Larsen could still leave Wolves despite rejecting Newcastle’s £55m bid

Wolves manager Vitor Pereira says in football anything can happen and he won’t be surprised if star striker Strand Larsen leaves the club this summer, Softfootball reports.

Larsen was the hero yesterday for Wolves as he netted a brace in their 3-2 win over premier league side, West Ham United in the Carabao Cup.

According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, via his official X handle, reveals the Coach is optimistic that the player stays at the club and at the same time, knows that football can throw up different scenarios which they would be ready to deal with.

Fabrizio wrote:

“Wolves manager Vitor Pereira:

“Until now, Strand Larsen is our player. Also I understand football, every player has a price.

“He will never force a move, but of course we know football is football. We must be ready for everything.”

Earlier this week, Newcastle United put in a bid with a total package of £55 million for Strand Larsen but Wolves immediately rejected the deal for their most priced asset.

Newcastle United are in the market for a new striker after Callum Wilson left last month when his contract expired and Alexander Isak is currently on strike as he wants to force through a move to Liverpool.

The Magpies already rejected a £110 million bid for the striker and the Reds are waiting for the right conditions to return with another offer close to £150 million.

Liverpool are desperate to make their frontline even stronger this season despite already signing Hugo Ekitike from Bundesliga outfit, Frankfurt for a whopping £90 million and the French striker has scored in every game he has played for Liverpool so far.

Interestingly, Newcastle know there’s a high possibility of Isak leaving this summer with the summer window closing on September 1. So, Eddie Howe sees Strand Larsen as a perfect replacement but they are facing strong resistance from Wolves at the minute.

Wolves just completed the permanent transfer of Strand Larsen last month for £23m from Celta Vigo after he enjoyed a successful loan spell last season, scoring 14 goals in the Premier League.

Wolves already lost Matheus Cunha to Manchester United and would not want to lose another striker in the same summer but all cards are open until the end of the transfer window.
