Arne Slot has provided an update on Florian Wirtz’s fitness ahead of Liverpool FC’s double header against Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. this week.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle, the German international is expected to miss both fixtures as he continues his recovery from a back injury.
Romano posted:
Florian Wirtz will miss the next two games as Arne Slot confirms, not expected to return before next week.

The Reds travel to Molineux on Tuesday for a Premier League encounter before facing Wolves again three days later in the FA Cup fifth round. However, Wirtz is unlikely to feature in either match.
Softfootball gathered that the No.7 missed Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest F.C. on February 23, 2026, as well as the clash against West Ham United F.C where the won 5-2 on February 28, 2026. due to the same issue.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Slot said:
Not anything different than what I said after the game. The game tomorrow will probably come too soon and maybe the game at the weekend as well. Let’s see how that ends up. But we hope to have him back somewhere next week. Maybe earlier. Maybe a bit later. But that timescale.

Liverpool were also without Jeremie Frimpong in recent weeks, though the Dutch full-back has now returned from injury and impressed off the bench against West Ham. Slot, however, stressed the need for caution as the Reds navigate a congested fixture schedule.
Wirtz’s absence represents a significant blow for Liverpool, with the playmaker emerging as a key creative force in recent months.
