The Senegal national team have expressed serious concerns over their preparations for the AFCON 2025 final against Morocco, scheduled for Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

In an official communiqué posted on X by the Senegal Football Federation and written in French, the reigning African champions outlined four major issues they believe undermine fairness and safety at the tournament’s decisive stage. Softfootball has translated and summarized the concerns as follows.

Firstly, Senegal complained about a lack of adequate security upon their arrival at Rabat station, stating that the situation exposed the team to risks incompatible with the standards expected of a major international event.

Secondly, the Lions of Teranga revealed that an official protest was required before they could be guaranteed accommodation in a five-star hotel, which they insist is necessary for proper recovery ahead of such a crucial match.

Thirdly, Senegal disclosed that they were denied access to train at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, which is Morocco’s official training base. The team said this decision was made in the interest of sporting equity, but no alternative training venue has yet been communicated to them.

Finally, the Senegalese delegation raised concerns over ticket allocation. According to the statement, only two VIP tickets were initially allocated. Although they went on to purchase the maximum available tickets across categories (300 Category 1, 850 Category 2, and 1,700 Category 3), they noted that there was no option to purchase VIP or VVIP tickets, which they described as inadequate for a final of this magnitude.

Senegal have called on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to intervene and ensure fair play, equal treatment, and proper security for both finalists. The AFCON 2025 final will see Senegal take on host nation Morocco, who booked their place after defeating Nigeria on penalties. Kick-off is set for 19:00 GMT on Sunday, January 18, in Rabat.
