Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze visited Governor Alex Otti today, Monday 1st June 2026, commending the progress and good governance in Abia State after the successful burial of his mother in Umuahia.
Softfootball gathered that the Abia State Governor, His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has revealed plans to flag off the construction of a new Umuahia Stadium City before the end of the year. He described the project as a major boost for sports development and economic growth in the state.
Governor Otti made this known while receiving Abia‑born Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Umuahia alongside friends.
The visit also gave Chukwueze the opportunity to appreciate the Governor for standing with him and his family during the burial of his late mother. During the meeting, Chukwueze applauded Governor Otti’s leadership and praised the visible progress being made across Abia State, particularly in infrastructure and governance.
The Super Eagles winger commended the administration’s efforts in repositioning the state and expressed optimism about the impact the proposed stadium project will have on sports and youth development in Abia.
Chukwueze was absent from the Nigeria squad that won the 2026 Unity Cup and will also miss the upcoming June international friendlies against Poland and Portugal.
