Salah Double Fires Egypt to 2026 World Cup After Comfortable 3–0 Win Over Djibouti

Egypt has made it official; they’re heading to the 2026 FIFA World Cup after brushing aside Djibouti with a solid 3–0 win in their CAF qualifier at Stade Larbi Zaouli, Casablanca, Morocco, on October 8, 2025. The result puts them clear on top of Group A, confirming direct qualification to the tournament that’ll be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico next year.

And, of course, it had to be Mohamed Salah. The captain once again led by example after drawing blank in Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea, netting his fifth and sixth goals in the qualifiers. After Ibrahim Adel had put the Pharaohs ahead in the 8th minute, Salah then opened his scoring in the 14th minute after a lovely through ball from Mahmoud Trezeguet Hassan before finishing things off in style with a calm volley in the 84th minute.

Softfootball wrote on why Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move from Liverpool could have affected Salah’s output; however, the Egyptian reminded us all that he is a lone superstar capable of creating chaos at will. Salah just makes it look too easy sometimes.

Egypt Posted a celebratory post on the team’s official X account announcing that they are going for the fourth time in their history.

Before all that, Ibrahim Adel had already given Egypt a dream start, heading home from Ahmed Zizo Sayed’s curling cross in the 8th minute. It was the kind of early goal that settles nerves and lets the Pharaohs dictate the tempo right from the go.

The win now takes Egypt to 23 points from nine games, five clear of Burkina Faso in second place, meaning nobody’s catching them now, even with one round left. It’s Egypt’s fourth time reaching the World Cup, after making it in 1934, 1990, and most recently in 2018.

Coach Hossam Hassan will definitely be pleased with the performance of his boys, as they didn’t just achieve the aims and objectives of the team; they did it in spectacular fashion. Across Cairo and beyond, Egyptian fans will celebrate deep into the night. With their ticket to North America already sealed, Egypt’s final qualifier at home against Guinea-Bissau on October 12 now looks more like a party than a pressure match.
