Manchester United are preparing for a dramatic reshuffle this summer under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who has made an early statement by dropping four senior players from the club’s upcoming pre-season tour.

The Red Devils have lined up fixtures against Leeds United, West Ham, Bournemouth, Everton, and Fiorentina as they gear up for the 2025–26 season. But some familiar names won’t be boarding the flight. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho have all been informed they’re no longer in Amorim’s plans.

The decision reflects Amorim’s intent to reduce the squad size and maintain a tightly-knit group focused on fitness and unity. Sources within the club suggest the manager is prioritizing commitment and alignment with his footballing philosophy over individual reputation.

While Rashford was hopeful for a move to Barcelona and even offered to lower his wages, the Catalans have shifted focus to Nico Williams, leaving the England international’s future uncertain. Aston Villa, where Rashford spent a productive loan spell, are said to be priced out of a permanent deal.

Sancho appears to have found a way out with Serie A champions Napoli, after failing to secure a permanent switch to Chelsea, where he played on loan last season. Garnacho, meanwhile, has attracted interest from Arsenal and Chelsea following a failed January bid from the Blues.

Antony, once signed from Ajax for a significant fee, impressed during a loan spell at Real Betis. Manchester United are now demanding at least €35 million for the Brazilian winger, who is linked with Bayer Leverkusen — now managed by Erik ten Hag.

Amid ongoing transfer activity, United’s recruitment efforts continue. They’ve already secured Matheus Cunha and are targeting Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. Hugo Ekitike has emerged as an option for the striker position, after Viktor Gyokeres showed reluctance toward an Old Trafford move.

The club is expected to generate transfer funds by offloading players like the aforementioned quartet. Amorim, now fully in charge after arriving mid-season, is clearly intent on stamping his authority by moving swiftly to reshape the squad in his own image.
