Rodrygo tipped for Arsenal move amid uncertainty at Real Madrid

Rodrygo Silva

Arsenal have identified Rodrygo as a key target for their summer rebuild, with the Real Madrid winger reportedly considering a move away from the Bernabeu. Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his attack after another trophyless campaign, and the Brazilian has emerged as a prime candidate.

Micah Richards shared his views on the latest episode of The Rest Is Football, describing Rodrygo as a “top player” and ideal for Arteta’s tactical setup. Richards noted the player’s frustration at being played out of position, particularly on the right wing, and believes a move could be on the horizon. “Everyone wants to play on the left, even though they’re right-footed,” Richards said. “I think he could leave in the summer. He’s been linked with Arsenal. I really believe he could leave.”

Rodrygo, who has won two Champions League titles with Madrid, has found game time inconsistent and was recently benched in a key Club World Cup match against Pachuca. He had started in the previous game against Al-Hilal but was substituted in the 65th minute.

Despite the appointment of Xabi Alonso and a slight improvement in mood, Rodrygo remains uncertain about his long-term future in the Spanish capital. With three years left on his contract, Madrid are reportedly willing to listen to offers around €80m (£67.5m).

The Gunners believe they can present a compelling project to lure the winger to the Emirates. Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes spoke highly of his compatriot, stating on the Podpah Podcast: “Rodrygo is a phenomenon. If it was up to me, of course [I’d want him at Arsenal].”

Rodrygo’s camp has opted to delay any serious transfer negotiations until after Madrid’s Club World Cup campaign in the United States concludes. However, interest from the Saudi Pro League and ongoing links with Arsenal could speed up developments in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Arsenal are also monitoring other attacking targets such as Viktor Gyokeres and Nico Williams. But the technical profile and experience Rodrygo brings make him a standout option for Arteta’s evolving squad.
