Rafael Louzán, President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), has officially confirmed that the final of the 2030 FIFA World Cup will be played in Spain, as part of the joint hosting arrangement with Morocco and Portugal.

Speaking while addressing recent global football issues, Louzán also referenced the controversial scenes from the AFCON 2025 final between Senegal and host nation Morocco, which drew widespread criticism across the football world.

In his statement, Louzán said:

“The final will be played here. Spain has demonstrated its organizational capacity. We have seen scenes during the Africa Cup of Nations that damage the image of world football.”

As earlier reported by Softfootball, the AFCON 2025 final was marred by chaos after Senegalese players temporarily refused to continue the match following a controversial late penalty awarded to Morocco in additional time. The situation was only resolved after Sadio Mané intervened, urging his teammates to return to the pitch.

Morocco later missed the penalty, and Senegal went on to win the final 1–0, securing their second Africa Cup of Nations title. Despite the controversy, celebrations erupted in Senegal, with music star Akon among those publicly celebrating the historic triumph.

Louzán’s comments highlight growing concerns among football administrators about maintaining discipline and credibility at major international tournaments, especially as preparations intensify for the landmark 2030 World Cup, which will commemorate 100 years of the competition.
