Real Madrid have officially confirmed the departure of Álvaro Arbeloa from his role as first-team coach following a mutual agreement between both parties, Softfootball reports.

In an official statement shared through the club’s English channel, Real Madrid thanked Arbeloa for his loyalty, commitment, professionalism, and dedication to the values of the club throughout his time at the Santiago Bernabéu. The former defender, who enjoyed a successful playing career with Los Blancos, had been promoted from Castilla to the first team in January 2026 during a difficult period for the club.

Real Madrid shared:

Real Madrid C. F. and Álvaro Arbeloa have reached an agreement to end his tenure as the first-team coach. Real Madrid is deeply grateful to Álvaro Arbeloa, who throughout his career at the club, from the time he joined our academy, has always demonstrated loyalty, commitment, and professionalism. His persona is a true example of the values of our club. Real Madrid, which will always be his home, wishes Álvaro Arbeloa and his entire family the best of luck in this new chapter of their lives.

His departure follows a disappointing 2025/26 campaign in which Real Madrid finished runners-up in La Liga and suffered early exits from domestic cup competitions, ending the season without major silverware.

The announcement comes shortly after Arbeloa emotionally bid farewell to supporters, confirming that his two-decade association with the club had come to an end following the final match of the season against Athletic Club.
