Real Madrid have officially confirmed the departure of Álvaro Arbeloa from his role as first-team coach following a mutual agreement between both parties, Softfootball reports.
In an official statement shared through the club’s English channel, Real Madrid thanked Arbeloa for his loyalty, commitment, professionalism, and dedication to the values of the club throughout his time at the Santiago Bernabéu. The former defender, who enjoyed a successful playing career with Los Blancos, had been promoted from Castilla to the first team in January 2026 during a difficult period for the club.

His departure follows a disappointing 2025/26 campaign in which Real Madrid finished runners-up in La Liga and suffered early exits from domestic cup competitions, ending the season without major silverware.
The announcement comes shortly after Arbeloa emotionally bid farewell to supporters, confirming that his two-decade association with the club had come to an end following the final match of the season against Athletic Club.
Real Madrid, however have already moved forward with a new chapter by appointing José Mourinho as head coach after activating his €15 million release clause.
The Portuguese manager returns to the Bernabéu on a three-year contract, beginning his second spell in charge shortly after the re-election of club president Florentino Pérez.
