Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has been encouraged to turn down Inter Milan’s offer and instead reignite his career in the Premier League with Everton. A loan move to Goodison Park is seen by some, including former Toffees star Pat Nevin, as an ideal fit for both Hojlund and David Moyes’ tactical system.
Everton, facing the possible exit of long-serving striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, are looking at loan options to reinforce their attack. Moyes is keen to find a forward who can fit into his hard-working, high-energy setup, and Hojlund’s playing style has caught the eye despite a poor second season at Old Trafford.
Although Inter Milan have expressed interest and held discussions over a £38 million move, they’ve hesitated to meet United’s asking price. Hojlund, who joined United from Atalanta for £72 million, is open to returning to Serie A, partly due to stalled development under the current regime and the club’s plans to sign a new No. 9.
United have already secured Matheus Cunha from Wolves and are reportedly targeting Bryan Mbeumo next, with Viktor Gyokeres still on Ruben Amorim’s radar after missing out on Liam Delap, who joined Chelsea for £30 million.
Hojlund had a promising debut season with 16 goals across competitions, but only managed four in the league last term. This dip has prompted transfer speculation, and with Amorim planning a major squad overhaul, a move away appears likely.
Pat Nevin believes Hojlund would thrive under Moyes’ system, which favors industrious attackers who run in behind and create space. “He may not have had great numbers recently, but his work rate fits Moyes’ style perfectly,” Nevin said, suggesting Everton should revisit the loan market instead of spending big.
Everton’s strategy aligns well with Hojlund’s situation. A loan move would allow him consistent minutes and an environment tailored to his attributes—something he lacked at Manchester United last season.
With United finishing a disappointing 15th and undergoing major changes, Hojlund’s departure could benefit all parties—especially if he uses an Everton spell to bounce back.
