Rashford tags along as Barcelona lands in Seoul as the Asian tour enters its second phase

Softfootball can confirm that Barcelona’s preseason tour has now entered its second phase, with the squad arriving in South Korea following a three-day stay in Japan.

After securing a 3-1 victory over Vissel Kobe in their opening fixture, the team departed Kobe on Tuesday morning, boarding a short two-hour flight to Seoul.

The South Korean capital will serve as the squad’s training base for the remainder of the week as preparations continue under head coach Hansi Flick, as announced on the club website

See below how the team was welcomed upon arrival at the airport, as shared by the club on their official X handle:

On arrival, the players were escorted to the team hotel, where they recovered from travel before heading out to their first scheduled training session later in the day. The session is taking place at the Goyang Stadium, located approximately 30 minutes from the team’s accommodation in central Seoul.

The tempo is expected to rise on Wednesday, with a double training session planned as Flick continues to refine physical conditioning and tactical structure ahead of Thursday’s meeting with FC Seoul. The friendly match represents the penultimate fixture of Barcelona’s Asia tour, with the final game scheduled for Monday in Daegu.

The current leg of the tour offers a key opportunity for squad cohesion and tactical clarity ahead of a demanding 2025–26 season. Several first-team regulars have rejoined the group, while younger players from La Masia are being closely monitored as part of the club’s long-term integration strategy.

Barcelona’s visit to South Korea also continues the club’s wider commercial and fan engagement efforts across Asia, a region that has played an increasing role in preseason planning for top European sides.

The trip was also accompanied by loanee from Manchester United Marcus Rashford, who was seen on board with the other squad.

Softfootball had earlier written about the logistical and performance management challenges top clubs face during summer tours after Barcelona’s Kobe fixture was first cancelled over contractual breaches from the promoter

However, the La Liga defending champions next test comes on Thursday, where fitness progress and system fluency will again be under the spotlight.
