Oleksandr Volodymyrovych Zinchenko was born on 15 December 1996 in Radomyshl, Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine. He started his football journey with local youth clubs, eventually captaining Shakhtar Donetsk’s youth team.

Following the outbreak of war in Donbas, he moved to Russia with his family and trained with Rubin Kazan. However, contractual issues prevented him from signing with the club, leading him to join Russian Premier League side Ufa in 2015.

Club Career

Manchester City (2016–2022)

Zinchenko joined Manchester City in 2016 for £1.7 million, initially as an attacking midfielder. After a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, he transitioned into a left-back under Pep Guardiola.

During his time at City, he won:

He played a crucial role in City’s 2020–21 Champions League campaign, starting in the final against Chelsea. He was also instrumental in City’s 2021–22 title-winning comeback against Aston Villa.
