Marcus Vinicius Oliveira Alencar, professionally known as Marquinhos, was born on April 7, 2003, in Brazil. He is a talented winger currently playing for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club Cruzeiro, on loan from Arsenal.

São Paulo Marquinhos began his professional career with São Paulo, making his debut on July 11, 2021, as a 78th-minute substitute in a 1–0 home victory against Bahia.

Arsenal On June 13, 2022, Marquinhos signed a long-term contract with English club Arsenal. However, his transfer was met with controversy as Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers considered legal action, claiming he had previously signed a pre-contract agreement with them.

Marquinhos made an immediate impact for Arsenal, debuting on September 8 in a UEFA Europa League match against Zürich. He scored his first goal for the club and provided an assist in Arsenal’s 2–1 away victory. He made his Premier League debut on September 18, coming on as a late substitute in a 3–0 win over Brentford. His first appearance at the Emirates Stadium followed on October 6 in a Europa League fixture against Bodø/Glimt.

Norwich City (2023) On January 31, 2023, Marquinhos joined Championship side Norwich City on loan for the remainder of the 2022–23 season. He made an instant impact, scoring and assisting in his debut match on February 25, helping Norwich secure a 2–0 win over Cardiff City. However, he received his first senior red card on March 15 for allegedly elbowing an opponent in a match against Huddersfield Town. Norwich successfully appealed the decision, overturning the three-match ban.

Nantes (2023–24) On August 12, 2023, Marquinhos moved to Ligue 1 club Nantes on a season-long loan. However, on January 12, 2024, he was recalled by Arsenal, cutting short his time in France.

Fluminense (2024) Marquinhos returned to Brazil on February 15, 2024, joining Fluminense on loan until January 2025, allowing him to gain more first-team experience in his home country.

Cruzeiro (2025) On January 9, 2025, Marquinhos secured another loan move, joining Brazilian side Cruzeiro on a one-year deal, continuing his development in the Série A.
