French defender Benjamin Pavard has officially opened his new chapter with Olympique de Marseille, taking part in his first training session at the Robert Louis-Dreyfus centre after returning from international duty.
Softfootball reported that the defender arrived on loan from Inter Milan at the close of the summer transfer window and trained alongside fellow deadline-day recruit Nayef Aguerd on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
Pavard, 30, was unveiled in Marseille earlier this week after sealing a season-long loan deal that includes a purchase option worth around €15 million. Les Olympiens also paid Inter a €2.5 million loan fee to secure his services.
Marseille revealed via the club’s official website that both Benjamin Pavard and Nayef Aguerd completed their first training session.
They Announced:
Back from international duty, our two internationals recruited at the end of the transfer window, Nayef Aguerd and Benjamin Pavard, had their first training session in their new colours at the RLD centre two days before hosting FC Lorient.

He added that positive talks with Marseille sporting director Medhi Benatia played a major role in his decision, while also expressing his excitement to experience the atmosphere at the Vélodrome, a ground he previously played at during his time with Lille.
Pavard’s career has taken him from Lille to Stuttgart, then Bayern Munich, before joining Inter Milan in 2023. While injuries hampered his progress in Italy, his pedigree and experience remain unquestionable.
The French international is now expected to make his debut for OM in their Ligue 1 clash against Lorient on Friday, September 12, as Roberto De Zerbi’s side prepares for the fourth round of the season.
