Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv are eyeing Nigerian forward Paul Mukairu as they prepare for life back in the Israeli Premier League. After sealing promotion from the second tier, the historic side is eager to strengthen their attack and view Mukairu as a potential key addition.
The 25-year-old winger had an impressive campaign on loan at Boluspor in Turkey’s second division, notching 14 assists — the most in the league — and scoring seven times across 37 appearances. His creative contributions played a major role in Boluspor’s attacking output throughout the season.
Mukairu has now returned to parent club FC Copenhagen, where his contract is set to expire in December. Although the Danish side may consider extending his deal, they could also be open to a sale this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Copenhagen reportedly value the former Reading loanee at around €1 million, slightly above his current Transfermarkt valuation of €850,000. Hapoel Tel Aviv, aware of this situation, are closely monitoring developments and could make a move if negotiations between the player and his club stall.
Mukairu began his career at FC Heart Academy in Nigeria before moving to Europe in 2019. Despite early promise and stints in Denmark, England, and Turkey, he has yet to break into the Nigerian national team setup.
Now entering a critical phase of his career, Mukairu will be weighing his next step carefully. A move to Israel’s top flight could offer both a fresh challenge and a platform to reignite the potential he once showed as one of Nigeria’s most exciting young exports.
