Osimhen’s departure opens way for Nunez at Napoli

As Napoli and Galatasaray continue to negotiate a perfect price for Victor Osimhen, Napoli are also looking to seduce Liverpool to accept their offer for unsettled striker, Darwin Nunez. Softfootball got hints that the Italian side are looking to use parts of Osimhen’s fees to pay for Nunez.

As reported by transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray are ready to meet Napoli’s Osimhen valuation and want to cough out the 75m requested for. Although, the Turkish team have now insisted that Osimhen will sign a 5 year deal instead of the 3 year deal he was offered originally.

Osimhen’s imminent departure means Napoli can now fully work on Nunez’s deal from Liverpool and will now table contracts for Nunez to agree with salary ranging between €5m to €6m which will be €4m lesser than Galatasaray’s new man. Fabrizio elucidated in a post on X that Nunez will be the center focus once the former Lille man leaves. The post read:

After selling Osimhen, Napoli are set for new round of talks for Darwin Nunez as Uruguayan striker remains the main, dream target.

As revealed two weeks ago, Darwin wants Napoli and he’s open to the move. Understand he’s giving total priority to Napoli at this stage.

Liverpool rejected €70m from Al-Hilal last season for Nunez and will be hoping to receive closer to that range before allowing Nunez leave the Anfield. Nunez brought in from Benfica after a stellar season has been deemed to not fit in at Liverpool.

Osimehn, 28, led Napoli to the first Serie A title in 2022/23 season after a long while finishing the campaign with over 30 goals. He formed a strong partnership with now sold Georgian, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia who won the 2025 UEFA Champions League with PSG. The Nigerian striker also had a glorious season on loan at Galatasaray as he won the Turkish League and Turkish Cup.

Softfootball in an earlier report had revealed that Liverpool had rejected Napoli’s €55m offer the Nunez. Liverpool has reportedly rejected a €55m offer from Napoli for striker Darwin Nunez as Antonio Conte looks to reinforce his squad ahead of the new season.

The Reds are open to selling Nunez, who hasn’t quite fitted in under new manager Arne Slot, but wants a substantial amount more than the offered €55m. This isn’t the first time Nunez has been the subject of transfer interest.
