Nottingham Forest secured their biggest win over Tottenham Hotspur since 1987 with a comprehensive 3-0 victory, Softfootball reports.

The Tricky Trees defeated Utrecht 2-1 in the Europa League on Thursday and came into the premier league match-day 16 in high confidence. The home fans were firmly behind them and the noise was unusual as Spurs came visiting.

Nottingham Forest shared the result with their fans via their official X handle. The win meant so much to them as it was against a team they hardly get a positive result against. And to get the win the way they did after 38 years was special.

In-form Xavi Simons said he is enjoying playing for Tottenham and was handed a starting shirt in the number 10 role flanked by Kolo Muani and Mohammed Kudus while Callum Hudson-Odoi and Morgan Gibbs-White played in midfield for Forest just behind striker Igor Jesus.

In the keenly contested first half, former Chelsea winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi gave the home side the lead with a smart finish. That was the only goal in the first 45 minutes of the encounter.

It went from bad to worse for the away side as defender Dan Burn went off injured and was booed off the pitch by the home fans as they showed no sympathy for the former Brighton start. Shortly after Hudson-Odoi doubled the lead for the home side top send the fans into wide frenzy.
