Neymar has delivered an emotional statement about his future, admitting that the 2026 FIFA World Cup could be his final appearance on the international stage, Softfootball reports.

The remarks come shortly after Neymar was left out of the latest Brazil national football team squad by new head coach Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian manager explained that the decision was based on Neymar not being at full fitness, though he did not rule out a return before the 2026 World Cup if the forward regains top condition.

Speaking in comments confirmed by Fabrizio Romano via official X handle, Neymar said:

This is my last World Cup… I don’t even know if this will be my last year with the national team. My career is coming to an end and I have to know that. I always tell my family and friends: enjoy as much as you can because it will end.

Reacting to the omission, Neymar admitted he felt “upset and sad” but remains determined to earn a recall. He insisted he will continue fighting for his place in the squad.

Despite the setback, Neymar’s latest comments signal that the countdown may have begun on one of football’s most iconic international careers.
