Newcastle United have responded to Alexander Isak’s rant over a failed promise to allow him move away from Saint James’ Park this summer, Softfootball reports.
The Sweden international was subject of a £110 million bid from Liverpool earlier this summer which the Magpies rejected as they held out for £150 million fee. Since then the player has refused to play for the club. Missing all pre-season games and boycotting training.

In response to the player’s behaviour the club has said they would fine him. Isak did not show up for the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) award yesterday were he was nominated for the Players’ player of the year gong which Mohamed Salah eventually won for a record third time, but he came out with a public statement of apology for missing the event and in the same note slammed Newcastle for broken promises and not allowing him to move this summer despite having three years left on his contract. That move has infuriated the premier league side.
And in response, Newcastle United through its official club media responded with an official statement.
It read:
“We are disappointed to have been alerted to a social media post by Alexander Isak this evening.
“We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.
“We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views. As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired.
“We do not foresee those conditions being met.
“This is a proud football club with proud traditions and we strive to retain our family feel. Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates.”
Isak missed the opening Premier League match of the season as Newcastle United battled to a goalless draw against 10-man Aston Villa at Villa Park last weekend.
