Newcastle United were held to a goalless draw by Wolves at the Molineux in the premier league Match-Day 22 on Sunday evening, Softfootball reports.
Magpies defender, Sven Botman, who just signed a new long-term contract was handed a starting place by manager Eddie Howe as they looked for their fourth consecutive win while Rodrigo Gomes, who scored for Wolves in the FA Cup third round was on the bench for this tie as Rob Edwards handed Tolu Arokodare a rare premier league start.

It was a difficult game under the rain and Wolves acknowledged that via their official X handle with a photo and caption. They posted:
A hard-fought point.

Newcastle United’s record signing Nick Woltemade was hoping to end his goal-drought against Wolves. The £69million summer signing from Stuttgart has scored nine times in 29 appearances for the Magpies, but only twice in the last 12. So, it was a big day for the German forward.
In the first half, Harvey Barnes played in a superb ball into his path but Woltemade missed his header as the ball went wide off the target. After five minutes Wolves began to impose themselves in the game but Nick Pope was not troubled.
Although, Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare was doing a lot of work up front. His Wolves teammates failed to create anything for him to latch onto. As the rain poured down, Wolves star man Mateus Mané tried to create something but his ball into the box missed everyone and went out for a goalkick.

In the second half, Newcastle United came out better as their pass was quicker and they created more chances. Kieran Trippier’sfreekick was flicked with a header from Nick Woltemade onto the roof the net. Jose Sa was also alert aas he made two brilliant saves to keep his side in the match.
In the end, the match finished goalless. With the results, Wolves are still bottom of the premier league with just eight points while Newcastle United moved to eighth with 33 points.
