Alexander Isak is on course to feature in Newcastle’s Premier League showdown with Manchester United this Sunday, while Anthony Gordon’s availability remains uncertain.
Isak, who’s been managing a groin injury, was subbed off early in Newcastle’s recent wins over Leicester City and Brentford.
With 20 Premier League goals this season, the Swedish striker has been a standout performer. Newcastle assistant Jason Tindall is optimistic about his return for the big match at St James’ Park.
“He’s trained in the last few days,” Tindall shared.
“He’s feeling good and taking it one day at a time. The signs are positive and we’re hopeful he’ll be ready for Sunday.”

Tindall emphasized that all eyes are on the Man United game, with no long-term planning until that fixture is out of the way.
Meanwhile, Gordon picked up a hip injury during England’s 2-0 win over Albania in March and has been absent for Newcastle’s last four fixtures.
The 24-year-old winger is making progress, having recently returned to the pitch for individual sessions.
“He’s had a solid week with the physios,” Tindall said.
“He did a light pitch session yesterday. We’ll see how he responds, and then we’ll decide later this weekend if he makes the squad.”
