Manchester United’s new signing is expected to join Matheus Cuhna and other players in preseason from July 7, Softfootball reports.
The 20-time Premier League champions finished a disappointing 15th last season in Reuben Amorim’s debut campaign following the sack of Dutch man Erik Ten Hag.
So, the Red Devils have been busy in the transfer market as they look to improve their squad ahead of next season. Having lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur it means that the Old Trafford side won’t be involved in Europe and that affords Amorim time to rebuild the squad to suit his 3-4-3 system.
With the formation in mind, Man United have already signed Matheus Cuhna from Wolves and are on the verge of completing a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
However, in January Manchester United agreed a deal for Paraguayan Left back, Diego León from Cerro Porteno for a fixed fee $4m, $1m easy add-ons, $2/3k extra difficult add-ons.
Diego León already had his medical at Old Trafford but could not join immediately as he was 17 at the time. Now, he is 18 and ready to join the rest of the squad for preseason.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated: “Diego León, set to travel to England next week as he’s starting his new chapter as Manchester United player.
“León has signed all documents to join Manchester United in July 2025, when he turns 18.
“Deal sealed by Jason Wilcox after South America lead scout Giuseppe Antonaccio pushed for León as talent.”
Man United will start preseason on Monday 7 July, 2025 at the £50 million refurbished Carrington training facility which will provide a world-class base to help cultivate the right environment for the players, in order to generate future success.
Earlier, Softfootball reported that Manchester United will be returning to preseason training on July 7 and Amorim will be glad to add competition in the left wing-back role with the arrival of Diego León to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils will face Leeds United in Stockholm, Sweden on 19 July, 2025 for its first preseason fixture with Leon and Cuhna hoping to get their debut as they prepare for the Premier League opener against Arsenal.
