Napoli ignore Osimhen, add new attacker to the team

Napoli have decided that they will not consider Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen for the 2025/2026 season as Softfootball deciphers that the Serie A champions are finalizing a deal for a new attacker.

It was reported earlier that the Gli Azzurri ordered Victor Osimhen to resume for pre-season but also informed the striker that he will only train with the youth team till his future is sorted.

The striker’s release clause is €85m. Napoli are however not waiting for Osimhen to be sold as they have agreed to buy Noa Lang from PSV for €28m fee plus sell-on clause.

Information gathered from Football-italia reveals, the Dutch winger will earn €2.8m net per season and was only ready to join Napoli amidst courting from French side, Olympique Marseille.

Lang will become Napoli’s first buy of the summer as they look to replace now PSG star, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who they sold in January for €70m and they would be hoping Lang can replicate the numbers he had at PSV.

The former Club Brugge star banged in eleven goals and registered ten assists in 29 Eredivisie matches in 2024-25 – and also scored twice and assisted twice in the Champions League. One of his assists knocked out Napoli’s rivals, Juventus in the Champions League.

Napoli will be looking to retain the Serie A title next season and will be looking to Lang to provide the spark after the 26-year-old penned a contract until June 2030.

Antonio Conte’s team will now look to seal more deals before the end of the transfer window with Bologna’s Sam Beukema and Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez next in line as reported by Softfootball.

Napoli are looking to bring new players into the squad as they look to defend their Serie A title next season despite being unsure of how unsettled Victor Osimhen’s future will be.

The Serie A champions have been in talks with Bologna for the signing of Sam Beukema who is reported to have agreed personal terms to join the club.

The Azzurris are waiting to agree on a favoured price with Bologna for the player. Conte’s team have also shown interest in signing Liverpool’s estranged striker Darwin Nunez but are skeptical to go on with negotiations.
