Mourinho targets Sancho for Fenerbahce summer transfer

Jadon Sancho’s future at Manchester United appears sealed, with Turkish giants Fenerbahce now leading the chase for his signature. Jose Mourinho has reportedly stepped in to personally convince the 25-year-old winger, who is no longer in United’s plans under new manager Ruben Amorim.

After an underwhelming loan spell at Chelsea, where he failed to impress Enzo Maresca enough to trigger a £25 million purchase clause, Sancho was sent back to Old Trafford—costing Chelsea a £5 million compensation fee in the process.

Despite attracting interest from Italian clubs like Juventus and Napoli, it’s Fenerbahce who have taken the boldest step. Mourinho, now in charge at the Istanbul club, has already reached out to Sancho directly in a bid to bring him to the Turkish Super Lig.

Transfer insider Ben Jacobs has revealed that Fenerbahce are readying a bid of around £15 million, though United remain firm on their £25 million valuation. However, the major hurdle could come from Sancho’s hefty £300,000-a-week wages. Fenerbahce are only willing to go as high as £165,000 per week.

Mourinho, who previously worked at Manchester United and secured both the Europa League and League Cup titles, seems determined to revive Sancho’s career with a more personal, hands-on approach. He believes a change of environment and better man-management could help the winger rediscover his Borussia Dortmund form.

The former Dortmund star had a very public fallout with Erik ten Hag, which led to his exile from the squad and eventual loan move. Mourinho has weighed in on Sancho’s Old Trafford struggles before, suggesting that the breakdown stemmed from poor communication and lack of connection between player and coach.

As Fenerbahce await Manchester United’s response, the key talking points remain the transfer fee and salary structure. While Sancho’s raw talent is not in doubt, his next destination could be shaped by how flexible he’s willing to be—and whether he’s ready to take the leap outside of England once more.
