Football expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle shared a key stat on Messi after the encounter. It read:

Leo Messi reaches 60 assists with Argentina, most in international football history beating Neymar’s previous record at 59.

Messi’s also 2 assists away from 400 career assists.

Argentina was the first South American side to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in North America countries, United States, Mexico and Canada and they have maintained a good form since winning the 2022 Mundial in Qatar with a pulsating victory in the final over France.

Interestingly against the Puerto Rico, it was the minnows that attacked first and Aston Villa’s number one Emiliano Martínez had to make a save and home fans inside the Chase Stadium in Miami, Florida thoroughly enjoyed that.

But Argentina showed why they are world champions as they took control of the match in a masterful fashion. who smashed a shot against the crossbar and in an attempt to score the rebound Nicolás González volley’s found Liverpool’s Mac Allister, who headed it home to make it 1-0.
