Mbeumo stays firm on his choice to play at Old Trafford

Bryan Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo has made his intentions clear: if he leaves Brentford this summer, it will be for Manchester United, as reported by The Athletic.

The 26-year-old forward, who is under contract until June 2026 with an option for an additional year, has drawn attention from Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle, and the strongest suitor, Manchester United. But according to The Athletic, the Cameroon international has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford if any transfer deal takes him out of the G-Tech Stadium.

Brentford values Mbeumo highly

Recall Soft Football reported how Manchester United made two offers, the first worth £45 million plus £10m in add-ons and a second worth £55m with £7.5m in bonuses, both turned down by Brentford, who value Mbeumo higher. The current estimation for Mbeumo, who registered 20 goals and seven assists in 38 EPL games last season, has been moved to £65m with an expectation to earn £150k weekly.

Spurs are out of the race for now

Tottenham’s interest intensified after appointing Frank as their new head coach, but reports of a bid have been dismissed from within the club. Spurs are no longer actively pursuing Mbeumo, though their stance could shift if United fail to seal the deal.

This could be because Mbeumo has already informed both Brentford and former boss Thomas Frank, now at Spurs, that if he moves, it’ll be to Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim, United’s new manager, is keen to add the Brentford star to his squad after signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m.
