Maxence Lacroix is set to undergo his medical today ahead of completing his move from Crystal Palace to Chelsea.
The Blues are finalising a deal worth around £52 million, with the 26-year-old centre-back expected to sign a long-term contract running until June 2032.
Chelsea have been pushing to strengthen their defence under Xabi Alonso, and Lacroix has emerged as the club’s priority target at centre-back throughout the summer.
Softfootball reported three days ago that negotiations had progressed to ownership level as Chelsea intensified talks with Crystal Palace to secure the French defender’s signature.
Arsenal had earlier entered the race to hijack Chelsea’s long-standing interest in Lacroix after William Saliba suffered a serious back injury during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are already assessing defensive replacements, with Chibuike Nwaiwu among the options being considered alongside Chrislain Matsima as the Eagles prepare for Lacroix’s departure.
An official announcement is expected once Lacroix successfully completes his medical and the remaining paperwork is signed.
