Mason Mount is determined to stay at Manchester United despite speculation over his future following two injury-hit seasons since his move from Chelsea. The midfielder, who joined in 2023 for £57.9 million, has struggled with consistency, scoring only four goals and providing a single assist in 46 appearances across all competitions.
Despite being plagued by calf and hamstring injuries that sidelined him for 50 matches since joining, Mount earned trust toward the end of last season. He started in Manchester United’s Europa League final and featured in their final four Premier League matches, indicating that manager Ruben Amorim sees value in his contribution going forward.
United’s new 3-4-3 system, which deploys two number 10s behind a central striker, appears tailor-made for Mount’s playmaking strengths. Though competition is intensifying with the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and possibly Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Mount is reportedly unfazed. He is focused on achieving full fitness and is preparing for his first full pre-season under Amorim.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Mount is not looking to leave Old Trafford, despite rumours suggesting Manchester United could cash in on him. With three years left on his contract and an option for a fourth, the 26-year-old is instead aiming to prove himself worthy of a starting role.
Given the likelihood of other attacking players such as Garnacho, Antony, Sancho, and Rashford leaving this summer, Mount’s versatility and comfort in the number 10 position give United an edge. Selling him now would not only disrupt squad balance but also undo progress made in building around Amorim’s tactical preferences.

Mount will also be eyeing a return to the England squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup, having not featured for the Three Lions since the Qatar tournament two-and-a-half years ago. For now, he remains committed to Manchester United, aiming to rediscover rhythm and deliver the performances expected of him when he first arrived.
