Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has dismissed speculation of a disagreement with defender Wesley Fofana after comments about the player’s injury recovery sparked debate.
The confusion arose when Maresca suggested Fofana could miss the rest of the season, prompting the French defender to publicly question the timeline on social media.
The Chelsea boss has now clarified the situation, insisting there is no conflict between himself and the defender.

Softfootball understands Maresca explained that the club’s medical staff estimated a recovery period of between 12 and 16 weeks, while Fofana remains optimistic about returning sooner than expected.
Maresca stressed that both the player and the club share the same objective of seeing the defender back on the pitch as quickly as possible.
He added that everyone would welcome an earlier return if Fofana’s rehabilitation progresses ahead of schedule, but the club will continue to follow medical advice.
Fofana has struggled with injuries since arriving at Chelsea, limiting his appearances over the past two seasons. The Blues will continue monitoring his recovery while focusing on maintaining defensive stability during his absence.
