Marcus Rashford Lands in Barcelona. Ahead of Loan Switch from Manchester United

Marcus Rashford arrived in Barcelona on Sunday evening as he looks to finalise a season-long loan move from Manchester United. The English forward was given permission to travel earlier in the day and was seen leaving the airport with a smile, clearly eager for a fresh start.

The 26-year-old is expected to undergo his medical on Monday. If all goes to plan, Barcelona will announce the signing soon after and include him in their squad for their pre-season tour of Asia.

Softfootball earlier revealed that Barcelona are going to cover the majority of Rashford’s salary, and the club has sealed all the documents of Rashford’s deal. Barça will pay €14m gross as salary coverage plus bonuses linked to appearances.

Marcus Rashford also took a 15% pay cut, and Manchester United will not cover his salary. €30m buy option for June 2026.

Marcus Rashford posted pictures on his Instagram handle with the caption “Up in the Air”. He was on board with his agent and brother, Dane Rashford, and a close associate, Dwayne Maynard; they were even pictured playing cards.

Also Què T’hi Jugues posted two videos on X regarding the arrival of Marcus Rashford; the first video was his arrival at the airport, and the second video was a video of Marcus Rashford giving a group of Spanish journalists the thumbs up.

The loan agreement also includes a €30 million buy option, which Barcelona can activate in June 2026. Though not mandatory, the clause suggests the Spanish club is open to a long-term move if Rashford performs well.

The England international is hoping to revive his form in Spain after a difficult period at United. He spent the second half of last season at Aston Villa on loan, but the club opted not to take up their purchase option. Now, with Barcelona, he gets another shot at proving his worth at the highest level.

While Rashford remains a popular figure among United fans, his limited role under Ruben Amorim made a move inevitable. At Barcelona, under the guidance of new manager Hansi Flick, the forward will be looking to rediscover his spark and contribute to a team chasing major honours.
