United Striker Facing Uncertainty as Amorim Loses Faith

Rasmus Hojlund’s future at Manchester United is in doubt as manager Ruben Amorim remains unconvinced by the Danish striker’s performances.

Despite a strong start under Amorim—scoring five goals in his first five games—Hojlund has now gone 11 matches without a goal, raising concerns over his long-term place in the squad.

Signed for over £70m from Atalanta in 2023, expectations were high for Hojlund, especially after his 16-goal tally in his debut season.

However, his second campaign has been far from impressive, with just two Premier League goals to his name as United struggle in the lower half of the table.

His underwhelming form continued against Fulham, where he lost possession ten times before being substituted early in the second half.

Club legend Rio Ferdinand has been among those criticizing Hojlund, urging him to improve and justify his spot in the team.

Reports from talkSPORT suggest Amorim is closely monitoring Hojlund’s progress for the rest of the season, with the possibility of a summer departure if he fails to convince.

Once considered “unsellable,” the club is now open to offers, with Serie A sides Napoli and Juventus reportedly interested in bringing him back to Italy.

Speaking after United’s 1-0 win over Fulham, Amorim acknowledged Hojlund’s struggles but praised his work ethic. He highlighted the striker’s need to improve his positioning and game awareness, noting that limited training time has hampered his development.

Amorim emphasized Hojlund’s willingness to work harder in training but reminded him that consistency is key.

United have already moved on from another expensive signing, Antony, who joined Real Betis on loan.

January also saw Marcus Rashford and Casemiro exit, with the club now closing in on a deal for Danish left-back Patrick Dorgu. Hojlund’s fate, however, remains uncertain as he fights to prove himself before the season ends.
