Manchester United beat Aston Villa 3–1 to consolidate the third position

Manchester United defeated Aston Villa 3:1 in the round 30 match of the English Premier League in the 2025/26 season. Casemiro opened the scoring in the 53rd minute before Ross Barkley equalised for Aston Villa in the 64th minute.

However, seven minutes later Matheus Cunha restored United’s lead in the 71st minute and Benjamin Šeško sealed the victory with a third goal in the 81st minute.

Softfootball gathered this result means United have now overtaken Aston Villa and moved into third place in the table, further strengthening their position in the standings. Aston Villa collected many points earlier in the season and aimed to remain among the top teams, but their position is now under pressure.

Casemiro delivered another strong performance and is enjoying one of his most productive seasons in terms of goals. Benjamin Šeško has also shown significant improvement since Carrick arrived at United, while Matheus Cunha continues to impress supporters with his finishing and attacking impact.

At one stage the match was level at 1:1, but Casemiro, Šeško and Bruno Fernandes helped United regain control. Bryan Mbeumo did not have his best game but still contributed positively to the team’s overall play. Manchester United finished the match with 52% possession, while Aston Villa recorded 48%.
