Manchester United have confirmed the sale of Argentina winger, Alejandro Garnacho to premier league rivals Chelsea, Softfootball reports.

The Red Devils slapped a £50m fee on Garnacho and Chelsea only wanted to pay between £25-30million as they feel that both club and player wants to go their separate ways but United didn’t burge on their demands.

After long weeks of negotiations and the player becoming restless as the transfer deadline draws to a close, the Blues finally agreed a £40m fee with a sell-on clause.

Manchester United announced the departure of Garnacho in a statement via their official club media.

It read:

“Alejandro Garnacho has completed a permanent move from Manchester United to Chelsea.

“The Argentina international joined our Academy from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and made his senior debut in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford in April 2022.

“He went on to make 144 first-team appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals.

“The 21-year-old was part of squads that won the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the Emirates FA Cup in 2024, and made his final competitive appearance in last season’s UEFA Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao.

“We would like to thank Alejandro for his contribution and wish him the best of luck for the next chapter in his career.”

On Chelsea’s official X handle, Garnacho was unveiled with a special video. Watch it below.

Garnacho was at Stamford Bridge earlier today and watched from the VIP area as Chelsea beat Fulham to record their second win in the Premier League this season.

Garnacho can return to Old Trafford as early as September 20, when Chelsea face Manchester United in the premier league. Before then, he can make his debut against Brentford on September 13 after which there’s a Champions League fixture against Bayern Munich.
