Manchester City dropped crucial points after a 2–2 draw against Nottingham Forest in a key match that could influence the 2025/26 English Premier League title race.

It was a dramatic night across the league’s top fixtures. Manchester United lost 2–1 to Newcastle United, Chelsea thrashed Aston Villa 4–1, and Arsenal secured a narrow 1–0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Softfootball believes the result will be a huge disappointment for City, who have been applying heavy pressure on Arsenal in the title race but failed to capitalize on the opportunity to close the gap. With Arsenal winning and City only managing a draw, Arsenal have now extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points.
However, City still have a game in hand. Arsenal have currently played 30 matches, while Manchester City have played 29, leaving the title race still open depending on upcoming results.
City opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Antoine Semenyo found the net after an assist from Rayan Cherki.
Forest responded when Morgan Gibbs-White equalised, converting a chance created by Igor Jesus.

Later in the match, Rodri restored the lead for Manchester City, putting the visitors ahead and seemingly on course for victory. However, Nottingham Forest fought back once again, with Elliot Anderson scoring in the 76th minute to make it 2–2 and secure a valuable point for his side.
