Manchester City are set to beat Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Liverpool to the signing of Crystal Palace Captain Marc Guehi, Softfootball understands.
The Cityzens beat Crystal Palace 3-0 earlier this season with Guehi in the Eagles side but he is a player admired by Pep Guardiola and he has sanctioned for the player to be added to his side to help strengthen their defense as they chase Arsenal for the premier league title this season.
According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Manchester City are keen to land the player and have offered him a lucrative contract. He wrote:
Manchester City advance on Marc Guehi deal as big approach has been made in the last 12h. Manchester City presented important proposal to Guehi in terms of contract, eventually ready to proceed also with Crystal Palace. Deal now closer with #MCFC.
Interestingly, Chelsea legend John Terry is pushing for Guehi’s return to the Blues but while the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and the FIFA Club World Cup champions are hoping to sign the defender on a free transfer as his deal ends this summer with Crystal Palace, Manchester City are hoping to sign him immediately.
Guehi has already turned down a new contract proposal from Crystal Palace and was denied a move to Liverpool last summer in the final minutes of the transfer window but it looks inevitable that the player will leave the Eagles sooner rather than later.
