Manchester City Set to Extend Rico Lewis’ Contract

While there is a lot of chaos in the red half of Manchester, with Softfootball reporting that five players have made it clear that they want out of Old Trafford, the blue half of Manchester is rather calm, as they have gone about their business with some precision.

Manchester City recently crashed out of the FIFA Club World Cup dramatically, and while that might serve as an eye-opener that things are not all roses, they at least have a formidable team ready to compete — unlike their rivals.

Squad depth is always very important for any club that aims to be successful, and Softfootball can confirm that Pep Guardiola’s side is on the verge of agreeing to a contract renewal with sensational young star Rico Lewis.

Rico Lewis is a fan favourite who is admired for his technical ability and understanding of the game that is far beyond his age.

At the age of 20, the young star has played over 40 games for Pep Guardiola and has proven to be a reliable option should he need reinforcements.

Softfootball initially announced that Manchester City had sealed the signature of 15-year-old wonderkid Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri from Sheffield Wednesday, and we can now confirm that the contract extension for Rico Lewis is underway.

The club views him as indispensable and a player for the future, and following the likely departure of fellow youngster Isaac McGillvary, the board knows they can’t afford to let another promising talent leave — especially in defense, where the club is short on options.

Rico Lewis is definitely a player Manchester City wants to keep around, as not only is he dependable and tactically sound, but he is also versatile and can offer a lot of options either on the left or right of the defence or in midfield as a defensive midfielder.

His versatility also means he can be an option in multiple places on the pitch in case of rotation or injuries.
